China Stops Firefighting Operation due to Bad Weather Conditions: NITC

TEHRAN, Jan. 10 (Shana) – Iran says Chinese government has stopped firefighting operation off China coast, due to bad weather conditions.

Firefighting operations to extinguish a burning Iran oil tanker in the East China Sea has stopped by Chinese firefighters due to bad climatic conditions and an explosion on the tanker, National Iranian Tanker Company said.

Spokesman of an emergency committee of the Iranian tanker collision with a Chinese balk freighter, Captain Mohsen Bahrami said a Japanese fireboat will reach the tanker by Thursday, adding the firefighting operation will resume ones conditions improve around the stricken Sanchi oil tanker.

"We expect the Chinese to expect the risks of the operation and not halt the operation by a small explosion and pull back their fireboats," Bahrami said.
