First Phase of Azar Oilfield Complete by 2019

TEHRAN (Shana) -- Operator of Iran’s Azar oilfield development project said the field’s first phase will become fully operational in the first half of the next Iranian calendar year which begins on March 21.

Keyvan Yarahmadi said the first train of the field’s facilities will come on-stream by March 2019, adding the second train of the phase will become operational by September 2019.

“So far, several companies have entered into talks with the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) for developing the project’s second phase,” he added.

Speaking on the sidelines of the Iran Oil and Gas Show, Yarahmadi said production of 30,000 b/d of crude is expected by early production of the field.

“Oil production of the field will reach 60,000 b/d by the end of the current [calendar] year,” he said.

The operator further added that 13 wells have been dug in the field so far, adding 4 drilling rigs are operating in the field.
