IRGC Engineering Arm Operates 10 Oil Projects

TEHRAN (Shana) -- The engineering arm of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) is currently operating 10 oil projects, its commander said.

General Ebadollah Abdollahi, commander of Khatam al-Anbia, said the projects were valued at IRR 1000,000 billion "which indicates good cooperation between the Khatam al-Anbia Construction Base and the Ministry of Petroleum".

He said that Khatam al-Anbia is also in charge of developing Phases 13, and 22-24 of South Pars gas field.

"Once operational, these projects would add nearly 104 mcm/d to Iran's gas production capacity."

In the last calendar year to March, he added, Khatam al-Anbia built 10 platforms for the offshore South Pars gas field.

"We welcome foreign investment," he said.

Abdollahi added that the Bandar Abbas condensate refinery in southern Iran had been built at a time when Iran was under tough sanctions.

"The sanctions affected the process of work; however, we shouldn’t bow to sanctions because Iran is a powerful state with regard to energy sources," said the general.

Abdollahi said Khatam al-Anbia was willing to operate projects in Iran's neighbors in order to "share technical and engineering services" with them.

He said two pipelines carrying Iran's natural gas to Iraq had been built by Khatam al-Anbia.
