Abadan Refinery Poised for Euro-4 Petrol Production

TEHRAN (Shana) -- Iran’s Abadan Refinery has increased its gasoline production capacity from below 10 million liters per day to 12 ml/d and is planned to yield Euro-4 petrol by March 20 2019.

The plant's CEO, Esfandyar Daem-ol-zekr, said the refinery has launched two hamstrung processing units which made the boost possible, NIORDC reported.

The plant, which is the oldest refinery in the country, is being renovated and is expected to supply Euro-4 petrol by the end of the current Iranian fiscal year to March 20 2019, the official said.

“Two of the processing units of the refinery resumed production after 4 years and I should announce that Abadan Refinery will supply Euro-4 petrol by the end of this [calendar] year,” he added.

He said plans are under way to scrap the facility’s worn-out machinery and replace them with new ones in a bid to modernize the refinery.

Most of the plant’s aged machinery are delivered to Iran’s petroleum museum.
