Total Pulls Out of Iran Gas Deal: Zanganeh

TEHRAN (Shana) -- Iranian Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zanganeh said France's energy major Total had official pulled out of the development project of phase 11 of the supergiant South Pars Gas Field.

According to ICANA, Iranian parliament's official news website, Mr. Zanganeh said that the French company had announced its plans to withdrawn from the project two months earlier.

Asked about taking over Total's share in the contract by other companies, the official said the respective process was ongoing.

Total left the South Pars deal after the United States threatened to impose sanctions on companies that do business in the country.

The United States reimposed sanctions on Iran after Washington withdrew from the 2015 nuclear agreement between Tehran and world powers.
