Iran Petrol Production, Storage Satisfactory: Zangeneh

TEHRAN (Shana) -- Iranian Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh expressed satisfaction at the current state of petrol production and storage in Iran.

According to ICANA, the official said Iran would no longer need to import the strategic item, saying the Rouhani administration was considering various mechanisms to curb the unbridled consumption of petrol in the country.

He also stated that the administration had so far made no decisions as to ration petrol consumption in the country.

The official also touched on the imminent inauguration of phase 3 of the Bandar Abbas Gas Condensate Refinery (also known as the Persian Gulf Star Refinery), saying the plant’s nameplate capacity was 36 ml/d of petrol but it could supply more if needed.

Once the third phase of the plant came online, Iran’s petrol production capacity would reach 100 ml/d, he added.

“This amount of output would be enough for one year,” Mr. Zangeneh said underlining the growing number of motor vehicles in the country.
