KUALA LUMPUR --SapuraCrest Petroleum Bhd. (8575.KU) has clinched its single biggest overseas contract to date from India's largest oil producer, Oil and Natural Gas Corp. Ltd. (500312.BY), the daily New Straits Times reports.

The contract, awarded on Dec. 30, 2005, is worth MYR274.3 million. The contract entails revamping, replacing and refurbishing 26 well platforms in Mumbai, India, the report says. Work is expected to commence shortly and is scheduled for completion by April 30, 2007. The award is in line with SapuraCrest's strategy to grow its overseas revenue contribution through regional expansion into markets such as India, Australia and China, the report cites SapuraCrest Executive Vice-Chairman Shahril Shamsuddin as saying. "SapuraCrest hopes to grow its overseas revenue from the current 15% to about 30% of total group revenue within the next two financial years, and this award bodes well for our plans in this direction," Shahril added. With this contract, SapuraCrest's order book is currently over MYR2 billion. PIN/DOW JONES
