TEHRAN – Minister of Petroleum Kazem Vaziri-Hamaneh has denied the existence of a Supreme Petroleum Council.

“We will set up a Supreme Energy Council if we feel it needed and it has been stipulated in the Constitution,” he said, adding that such a council would be involved in macropolicy making. Regarding shake-up at the ministry, he said: “Certain necessities required the contribution to new managers. Therefore, a decision was adopted and we are using previous directors in another post.” Vaziri-Hamaneh said new refineries will be definitely constructed, adding that one treatment would be built and two others would undergo renovation. The minister said fixing oil prices at 40 dollars per barrel in the next years budget bill will pose no challenge.
