TEHRAN – Minister of Petroleum Kazem Vaziri Hamaneh noted that developing petrochemical industry is a good way for boosting living standards of people because it both creates new jobs and supplied feedstock to domestic industries.

Speaking during induction ceremony of the new managing director of the National Petrochemical Company he noted that petrochemical industry goads domestic production by using domestically made equipment while petrochemical exports help Irans economy. The minister stated that Iran is importing 4-5 billion dollars gasoline and stressed that instead of exporting crude oil, Iran should focus on exporting oil products to create more added value. He also thanked efforts made by Nematzadeh, former managing director of the National Petrochemical Company, and said he played a crucial role in development of the industry and is expected to do the same in his new capacity as managing director of National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company. “The National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company is apparently the second biggest Iranian oil firm, but we are facing many problems with regard to refining activities,” he said. Hamaneh noted that the new managing director of National Petrochemical Company, Ebrahimi-Asl has good grasp of management skills.
