TEHRAN -- Majlis Education and Research Committee Chairman Ali Abbaspur Tehrani said here on Saturday that Iran should focus all its nuclear research activities on nuclear agriculture, industry, and medical activities as well as on the nuclear fuel cycle.

Abbaspur Tehrani noted that regional countries can also benefit from the achievements of Irans nuclear research activities, adding that Iran should prioritize nuclear research in light of the dimensions of the nuclear sciences. In conclusion, he said, “Suspending all nuclear activities in Iran actually slowed down the blossoming of the talents of Iranian nuclear experts rather than hindering the process of nuclear fuel production. However, terminating the suspension prevented serious damage in this regard.” Professor calls for self-reliance in nuclear program On Saturday, Seyyed Hadi Hadavi of the Shiraz University Nuclear Engineering Department called officials special attention to the nuclear issue over the past three years and the end of the suspension of certain nuclear activities promising signs for Iranian nuclear scientists, adding that Iran has great potential for nuclear development. The professor told the Mehr News Agency that Iran has a young, talented, and civilized society that enjoys a glorious scientific background and strong religious belief. Hadavi noted, “I am waiting for the referral of Irans nuclear dossier to the United Nations Security Council so that the foreign contributions to Iran -- such as Russias contributions -- will be cut. In that case, we would regain our self-esteem.” Iran can become West Asias brightest star in nuclear research: MP MP Hossein Afarideh of the Majlis Energy Committee said here on Saturday that Iran can become West Asias brightest star in nuclear research activities if it makes optimal use of its talent and capabilities. He went on to say that the countrys experienced nuclear experts have helped Iran attain high status in the world. Iran should continue its nuclear research activities since every country has the inalienable right to conduct nuclear research according to all international regulations, Afarideh noted. Fortunately, the way has been paved for nuclear research in Iran over the past few years, he added. In conclusion, he said that Iran should try to join international research groups, although this would probably be a complicated matter due to the anti-Iranian political atmosphere prevailing in many parts of the world.
