TEHRAN - Due to the lower than the expected consumption of the domestically produced fuel oil, export of the commodity continues regularly, noted an official at the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC).

Referring to the fact that in the winter, Iranian power plants normally for their fuel use fuel oil rather than the natural gas, Hojjatollah Ghanimifard said, export of the fuel oil produced at Iran's refineries continues based on a preplanned schedule. However, given the lower consumption of the fuel oil and also a surplus of commodity, a part of the product is exported to the international markets, Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA) reported on Friday. Iran's production of the fuel oil currently stands at about 82 million liters per day, over 40 million liters of which is used to fuel domestic industries and power plants during the warm season and the rest is exported via the southern Iranian ports of Bandar Abbas and Bandar Mahshahr. On average, Iran's daily fuel oil consumption during the past 10 days was about 42,260,000 liters, the report quoted National Iranian Oil Production and Distribution Company (NIOPDC). PIN/MNA
