TEHRAN – Director general for coordination and quality control at National Petrochemical Company noted that production of petrochemicals at Bandar Imam Special Economic Petrochemical Zone has been restarted after temporary power cut.

Effat Pour Dana told Petroenergy Information Network that power supply to Fajr Petrochemical Complex was cut last week due to heavy rainfall, and power cut caused cessation of production at all plants of the zone. The official stated that this is the second instance of power cut at the zone. “Therefore, officials at Fajr Petrochemical Complex are thinking about ways to reduce dependence on cross-country power grid by making needed changes to turbogenerators and installing a new boiler by Alstom company,” he said. Pour Dana noted that, at present, the complex is generating 585 MW of electricity. She stated that petrochemical plants at Bou Ali Sina, Amir Kabir, Tondgouyan, Fanavaran, Razi and Bandar Imam complexes have already stated operation and Maroun Petrochemical Complex is going through pre-commissioning. Masoud Etemadi, managing director of Fajr Petrochemical company told Petroenergy Information Network today that the power plant at Fajr Petrochemical Company is currently generating enough power and there is no problem. The first phase of utilities for petrochemical projects underway at Bandar Imam Special Economic Petrochemical Zone was accomplished by Fajr Petrochemical Company and the second phase is on the agenda.
