TEHRAN – Iran has restarted nuclear enrichment research in its Natanz facility, the countrys nuclear boss said.

Gholam-Reza Aqazadeh, head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, said the Islamic Republic would go ahead with its cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency. “We still need time to produce nuclear fuel for industrial purposes and we should leave behind the research stage,” he told state television. “Injection of gas into several centrifuges does not necessarily mean enrichment,” said Aqazadeh. “Nuclear research cannot be a pretext for a consensus against Iran to be referred to the United Nations Security Council. Therefore, the Western media are giving a wrong image of Iran,” he said. Aqazadeh noted that Iran will let inspections only within the framework of the safeguards agreement.
