TEHRAN, Jan. 28 (Shana) -- Iranian Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh says the country is currently producing 305,000 barrels per day of crude oil from West Karoon oilfields.

Speaking in a televised interview on Saturday night, the official said Iran is producing 305,000 b/d of oil from the field whose production stood at only 161,000 b/d last calendar year (beginning on March 21).

"We have thorough plans to ramp up crude oil production from West Karoon joint fields," he said, adding crude oil production from the fields will rise by 50 or 60 thousand barrels per day by summer.

He further said that production of Azar Oilfield began last calendar year and has reached 30,000 b/d, while Iran's production from the oil layer of South Pars gas field has crossed 20,000 b/d.
