Iraq not Keen on Increased OPEC Oil Output

VIENNA (Shana) -- Iraqi Oil Minister Jabbar Ali Hussein Alluaibi said the current price of oil was satisfactory, adding his country was not keen on increasing crude oil output of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC0.

Following a meeting with Iranian Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh in Vienna on Thursday, Alluaibi said his country would not seek a boost in oil output at the 174th OPEC meeting.

He said that various topics were discussed in his meeting with Mr. Zangeneh at Kempinski Hotel in Vienna, adding the meeting was generally positive.

Asked whether he was satisfied with the current crude oil prices, the Iraqi official said, the current prices were satisfactory but efforts were under way for restoring stability in the market.

He said many alternatives were considered for the OPEC meeting on Friday which would be discussed during the body’s technical committee later on Thursday, adding there might be differences of ideas but efforts would be exerted to satisfy everyone in the OPEC meeting.

He said Iraq did not favor an increase in OPEC’s crude oil output, adding preservation of the OPEC-non-OPEC output cut deal until the end of 2018 would be the meeting’s main goal.
