TEHRAN – Fath 83 drilling unit is a high-tech work piece engineered by Iranian oil experts in accordance with international standards. The equipment has registered ‘thumbs-up throughout its testing, operation manager of offshore drilling operations at the National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) Mehran Makvandi told the Persian service of ISNA on Sunday.
“Drilling operation at well 59 of Mansuri Oilfield was the first test for Fath 83 and it ended with total success,” he said, adding that it is now being equipped with top-drive technology and would soon start another drilling.
The top-drive system allows a drilling machine to accumulate momentum at the top of the well before percussion, thus converting potential energy into spin or kinetic energy inside the well as opposed to DTH (down the hammer) system rotary impact well inside the well.
