TEHRAN – Managing-Director of National Iranian Oil Distribution and Refining Company Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh has proposed double pricing system for gasoline to curb its unbridled consumption in the country.

He told reporters that this issue was proposed two years ago and that lawmakers have the last word on that affair. He said such a scheme would avoid a rise in prices, adding that this project can also reduce the countrys need for fuel. “NIODRC is determined to focus on the growing energy and gasoline consumption. It has to be limited with the help of the government, the Majlis and the people or we will face the consequences,” he said. “We will do our job as the technical body of the government and the decisions are up to the government and the Majlis,” he added. Nematzadeh said 1.2 billion dollars have been approved for investment in development of refineries and construction of new ones. He called on Iranian entities to bid for these projects.
