MOSCOW, Russia -- The Kremlin-controlled OAO Lukoil energy giant discovered a huge oil field in the Caspian Sea that may be Russia`s biggest such find in a decade.

The firm`s discovery well flowed at a rate of 5,840 barrels per day of light, low-sulfur crude oil, the Oil & Gas Journal said Thursday. Once the field, in what is known as the Severny license, is fully developed, it is expected to produce about 100,000 barrels per day, Lukoil said. PIN/UPI
