Baku - Iran natural gas exports to Georgia via Azarbaijan Republic started Sunday night, said the Azerbaijan state gas company director for public relations here Monday.

Kamandar Ivazeli told IRNA that the amount of natural gas exports to Georgia is 93,000-96,000 cubic meters per hour. He said the gas exports to Georgia is due to the country's energy crisis and per agreement signed between relevant organizations in the three countries. The request for gas exports was by the Georgian government and Iran' approval. Iran National Gas Export Company has signed an agreement for export of 30 million cubic meters of natural gas with Georgia to be ansferred within a 30 day period. Also, the value of the contract is dlrs seven million, which considering the bitter cold climate in Georgia and limited time and volume for gas delivery, was drawn with discounts given to Georgia and a cash deposit payment to Iran. The agreement calls for imports of over two million cubic meters of natural gas daily to Georgia. "The correct price of gas will be disclosed in the future per agreement." PIN/IRNA
